Matt
Rechner
After a long career in the wine industry Matthew Rechner has
taken his philosophy of excellence and forged his own path with the
creation of his award winning Linchpin 2004 Shiraz.
Matthew began his career in wine production in 1988 at Tatachilla
Winery – a winery full of rich history having had its first
plantations in 1887. Here Matthew was involved in a variety of roles
enabling him to grow alongside fellow industry heavyweights –
allowing him to eventually establish a keen knowledge of wine
production and the wine business.
After spending a vintage abroad in Sanoma Valley of the United
States wine country, Matt returned to Tatachilla Wines with an
in-depth knowledge and passion for winemaking. The Geyser Peak
region is renown for its Zinfandel and Shiraz varieties, and under
the watchful eye of Darrel Groom, Matthew inherited individual yet
traditional winemaking techniques.
In 2001 Matt began the creation of his own wine through his company,
McLaren Wines. An open fermentation of small batches enabled Matt to
explore with a range of blends and varieties. It was in 2003 that
his vision manifested into actuality with the establishment of the
brand the ‘Linchpin’.
Matthew’s fine ability has assisted the making and conception of the
‘Lavina Estate’ range. A range that consists of premium blends and
straight varietals displaying patented excellence fashioned from a
unique winemaking style.
Sam Daw of Lavina Estate Wines, in collaboration with Matthew
Rechner remain dedicated to the delivery of premium wines and will
continue to form and construct their vision to uphold a gleaming
reputation of quality and excellence.
